Pre-purchase car inspection — Lublin
The seller has one advantage over you: they know this car, and you are seeing it for the first time — usually in the evening, under a street light, with the remark that "two more people are coming tomorrow". That pressure is part of the sale, not a coincidence.
An hour on the lift costs a fraction of a timing belt, a clutch or a gearbox a month after the purchase. It is the cheapest hour in the whole life of the car, and the only moment to use it is before the money moves.
We inspect cars before purchase in Lublin. We do not hand down a verdict of "buy it" or "walk away" — we give you the list of what we found, with a repair cost next to each item. The decision and the haggling stay with you, because it is your money.

When a pre-purchase inspection is worth it
- You are buying from a classified ad, a private seller or a dealer lot
- The seller says nothing needs doing, but there are no service invoices
- The mileage looks suspiciously low for the year and the state of the interior
- An imported car with a history you cannot verify
- No warning light is on — because the fault memory was cleared just before the meeting
- Nobody knows when the timing belt, the clutch or the gearbox oil were last done
- The ad mentions "one lightly repainted wing" and you want to know the real extent
- The seller is pushing for a fast decision and a deposit
- You want to negotiate the price but need arguments, not hunches
If the seller will not let the car be inspected at a workshop, that is a result in itself. An honest seller has no problem with an hour on the lift.
What we check
Control unit memory
We scan every control unit, not just the engine. We look for current faults, but above all for traces of recently cleared memory and for inconsistencies showing that something was wiped shortly before the meeting.
On the lift: leaks, corrosion, suspension
Play in the joints, bushings and ball joints, disc and pad thickness, oil and fluid leaks, the state of the floor pan and sills. Half of the cost you buy along with the car is only visible from underneath.
Engine and gearbox
Compression, running cold and warm, oil pressure, smoke from the exhaust. The gearbox is judged on the road: how it behaves under load and how it shifts says more than standing in a car park.
Paint thickness
We measure the paint across the whole body. Differences reveal filler and respraying, and where those areas sit tells you whether it was a car park scrape or something more serious.
Mileage consistency
We compare the stated mileage against parts that wear predictably and against what the control units have recorded. A wound-back odometer almost always leaves an inconsistency behind.
A fault list with costs
At the end you get a list: what needs fixing now, what can wait, and what each item costs. That is material for negotiating the price, not a general impression.
How it works
- 1
We agree a time
Best arranged together with the seller, before you pay a deposit. A deposit takes away your ability to walk away.
- 2
The car goes on the lift
We start underneath, because that is where the most shows up fastest: leaks, corrosion, signs of body repair, the state of the suspension.
- 3
Electronics and paint measurement
All control units scanned, live data checked, paint thickness measured point by point across the body.
- 4
Test drive
The engine under load, how the gearbox behaves, braking, handling and the noises over bumps.
- 5
The talk and the cost list
We tell you what we found and what each repair costs. If the car is in good shape, we say that just as plainly.
What it costs and how long it takes
Price
We quote when the appointment is booked — it depends on the scope and on whether the car comes to us. It is one of the cheapest items in buying a car, and the only one that can pay for itself during the negotiation.
Time
Usually one to one and a half hours including the test drive. We go through the result on the spot — the decision to buy is usually made the same day, so a report sent the next morning would be useless.
6-month warranty
Every repair comes with a 6-month warranty. If the fault returns through our fault, we fix it without charging for labour again.
Frequently asked questions
- What does a pre-purchase inspection cost in Lublin?
- We quote when the appointment is booked, because it depends on the scope. It is one of the cheapest items in the whole purchase and the only one that can pay for itself several times over during the negotiation.
- Does the seller have to bring the car to the workshop?
- Yes, the inspection happens here on our lift — without it we would miss half of what matters. An honest seller usually agrees, and a refusal is information in itself.
- Will you spot a wound-back odometer?
- No method gives absolute certainty, but the inconsistencies show: entries in the control units, wear on parts that age predictably, the state of the interior against the stated mileage. We tell you plainly what adds up and what does not.
- Do you measure paint thickness?
- Yes, across the whole body. We show you where the car has been resprayed and how extensive the body repair was.
- Do I get the result in writing?
- You get a list of the faults found with an estimated repair cost for each. It is the same list the price negotiation is built on.
- Do you inspect imported cars?
- Yes. With imported cars we look especially closely at signs of body repair and at whether the condition of the car matches the service history claimed for it.
- How long does the inspection take?
- One to one and a half hours including the test drive. We go through the result on the spot, right after we finish.
- Where are you located?
- ul. Sławinkowska 32, 20-810 Lublin — the Sławinek district, next to the UMCS Botanical Garden, on the same street as the Bombardino Botanik restaurant.
